Forms and Guides

Here are the key forms and documents you will need to work towards the first stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award, Bronze: Rights Committed.

Bronze checklist

This checklist gives a succinct overview of what a school needs to do to achieve Bronze: Rights Committed, the first step of the Award.

The Strands and Outcomes of the Award

For a school to achieve a Rights Respecting Silver or Gold accreditation, it must have evidence that it has reached the three strands of a Rights Respecting School. A school uses these strands and other guidance provided to plan and monitor progress.

Planning your actions

Schools must complete the Action Plan for Silver to review their current situation and plan what they will do to become rights respecting. Use the Action Plan Guidance to support this.

Measuring your starting point

You might find it useful to carry out the pupil questionnaires and staff questionnaires so that you have an overview of the staff and pupils’ current knowledge and understanding of children’s rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. You might find it helpful to transfer the data to the School Questionnaire Summary.

Measuring your progress using our pupil and staff questionnaires can be invaluable in showing you the difference that embedding children’s rights is having.
