This webinar will outline the Five Perinatal Core Elements to optimise early maternal breastmilk for preterm babies that are explained in the toolkit and will detail the supporting evidence for the recommendations. The event will host a range of speakers, including Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative’s Professional Lead for Neonatal, Karen Read, and will discuss a variety of topics including why maternal breastmilk support matters, the science behind maternal breastmilk for preterm babies and the role of family care in maternal breastmilk optimisation.
The objective of the BAPM toolkit is to support the optimisation of maternal breastmilk supply and breastfeeding for preterm babies from before birth to discharge from the neonatal unit. Read more about the toolkit here.
